The Fundamentals of Breastfeeding
This Prenatal Breastfeeding Class focuses on the first six weeks of breastfeeding and how your decisions during labor and delivery may effect your early breastfeeding relationship. How things “should be” is learned so that when something is not right mom has the heads up to seek help. Several scenarios are covered so that mom and dad are equipped to succeed right out of the gate. That’s right, “dad”! You need to come to this class too! Despite what popular culture says, you are VERY important and integral to mom’s breastfeeding success. Other topics covered include the benefits of breastfeeding, proper latch technique, basic trouble shooting to common breastfeeding challenges, introducing a bottle, formula philosophy, safely nursing in bed, and well as touching on topics such as breastfeeding in public, dad’s role in breastfeeding, and defusing breastfeeding myths of the past.

Baby Care Basics | Bringing Your Newborn Home
Learn how to care for your newborn during the first 4 weeks of life. We will touch on breastfeeding, babywearing, car seats, soothing, sleeping, bathing, schedules, swaddling, diapering, when to call the doctor and more. This 101 prenatal class has broad topics meant to give you the confidence to bring home your new baby. There will also be discussion on mom care, integrating baby into the family, and community resources. Dads are highly encouraged to come and participate!

The Art of Postpartum Healing | Self-care After Baby
Many women are unsure of how to navigate the delicate weeks following the birth of their baby. New and expectant mommas and daddies are invited to join Ruthii Slattum as she discusses options for physical and emotional healing. She will speak on and demonstrate several traditional services such as belly binding, bone closing, mothering ceremonies, yoni steam bath, etc. Practical practices on setting up a new family to succeed are also discussed, as well as basic nutrition and ways to promote long term healing. Pregnancy and birth are important, but short term. Postpartum is forever! Come learn how to set yourself up for the smoothest transition possible as you welcome your new little person into your family.
This is a two hour class at Sunset Chiropractic & Wellness Center in Escondido every fourth Friday of the month. This price includes a Postpartum Thrive Kit containing all the basics to care for momma immediately following the birth of her baby. Light snacks are included.
